Injecting some fun into your personal style

Hello and welcome to my first post of 2018. At the beginning of the year, I thought about writing the usual ‘new year, new goals’ post but in all honesty, I haven’t really set any for this year. Every year I promise myself that I’ll blog once a week or reach a certain number of followers by x month, but I find myself to be much more productive and driven when I just go with the flow. I work a full-time job with a 4 hour round daily commute, and my weekends are often spent catching up with friends or spending time with James. So far this year, I’ve just been trying to post on Instagram when I’m inspired and take the same approach here, and it seems to be working so far.

When I think about my personal style, I feel like I’m finally starting to get to know what suits me. I follow lots of people who really inspire me, but I’m not a casual kind of girl, nor am I really dressy. I like to think my style is quite playful, sometimes trend-led and sometimes more fun, and this Warehouse dress is certainly that. I popped into Warehouse last week to look specifically at their range of midi dresses for a baby shower I was going to at the weekend. Midi dresses happen to be something that I often find myself reaching for when dressing for an occasion and I came across plenty in Warehouse that I was seriously tempted by. You can shop their midi dress selection here. Despite originally looking for a longer length, I found myself leaving with this spotty, cherry covered, ruffled dream. Polka dots are set to be a huge trend for Spring/Summer, and I was immediately drawn to the playfulness of this dress. I’m lucky enough not to have to dress smartly for my day job, but often find myself reaching for the same safety nets of jeans and a jumper, especially in the cold. When I saw this dress, it reminded me that we all need to have a bit of fun with our personal style once in a while. Paired with silver boots, pom-pom earrings and a red bag, this combo made me smile, even when shooting in the pouring rain.

I’m feeling super inspired this year to shoot more with my best friend and photographer extraordinaire and share lots more of my favourite outfits with you, I hope you enjoy too. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram to keep up with my outfits.
