A bit of a dressier than usual outfit post from me today, I realised that I’ve never posted an occasion outfit so as race season is upon us it would be a nice way to share a little something different. I’ve always wanted to go to the races and love the idea of dressing up and having a day out with the girls, but I’m quite a casual gal at heart and find it much trickier to find a dressier outfit compared to my day to day get ups. When it comes to ‘dressy’ occasions, I really struggle to find a good balance of smart but not too smart, which length to go for and which colour and style suits me best. I love a good wedding but the thought of searching for an outfit fills me with dread which is so unusual for the girl who spends hours a week searching through all of my fave brands new in sections to hunt for the best pieces.

This year I’ve been thinking about attending Royal Ascot hospitality with a big group of friends and it got me thinking about what I would wear. After searching through countless ‘Occasion dress’ edits, I was browsing on my go-to ASOS and came across this royal blue peplum beauty… I’ve never added anything straight to my basket so quickly. It’s the perfect length for a day at the races, and I love the frill and peplum detail. I decided to pair it with my trusty whistles bag and silver heels to keep it simple and let the dress do the talking. It’s unusual for me to find something formal and try it on and absolutely love it so I knew this one would be a keeper and I already can’t wait to get it back out again for the next big event!

Are you attending any events this summer? Please send any formal outfit tips and tricks my way!
